Shot on film

Everything on this site is shot on film.
I don't photoshop or otherwise edit my photos.

How the funk?

So, where do the oversaturated colors and strong contrasts come from?
Mostly cross–processing.

Over the years, I figured out what film works best for me (Kodak, and how to shoot to get interesting results. The rest is experimentation and luck.

I use a Nikon N80 F100 and a bunch of old cameras.

Why film?

Imagine buying yourself a present online during a night out in town. The next day, you vaguely remember what you ordered, but not quite. After a couple days, you get a package. From your past self. It can be something truly amazing, a barely useful household item, or it can blow up glitter in your face. That's what film photography can feel like.

Escape instant gratification. Not knowing is magical. You should try film.

This website

I launched Funky Side of Town in 2004 (sic!) on Movable Type as a photoblog. Around 2008/2009, I took down digital photos, and in 2018 I switched to a custom, no-database Javascript setup hosted on Github.

Maciej Szafraniec, nice to meet you. Some multiple exposure shots share copyright with other photographers.
